about this project
The On Point planning team hosted a design charrette public workshop for Uptown Elwood as part of the Elevate Elwood 2035 Plan process for the City of Elwood, Indiana. The workshop was the primary public engagement opportunity for the Elevate Elwood 2035 Uptown Plan process. City residents, designers, local stakeholders, and other creative thought leaders gathered in a collaborative session to propose potential solutions for improving Uptown Elwood, while designers sketched these solutions in real time.
The charrette workshop addressed Uptown Elwood as a whole and smaller sites within the district. These smaller sites include the Duck Creek Trail, a Complete Street on South Anderson Street, and the northwest corner of South A Street and South 16th Street. Redesigning these aspects of Uptown Elwood will equip the city with an attractive district for more retail opportunities and foot traffic.Workshop attendees included designers, planners, and Elwood stakeholders with various backgrounds. This diverse group worked together to create different solutions for Uptown Elwood that will revitalize the district and benefit residents, decision makers, and visitors.
