about this project

The Frankton Drainage Solution design responds to an area in Frankton containing dramatic topography with a valley in the center where substantial runoff collects during rainstorms. This runoff floods adjacent property owners’ homes as a result. Plans were drawn for Frankton based on current best practices and stormwater runoff calculations. The resulting design comprises a large water detention basin with a four-foot tall clay berm as well as an emergency spillway, large-diameter underground drain culverts, and above-ground swales. The system mitigates runoff by temporarily storing it then releasing it slowly, so it is diverted from the adjacent properties. Most of the time, the basin is an empty, large, grassy field until significant rainstorms when it functions as storage volume for the stormwater runoff.
